Swimmer of the Month - July

We are very proud to announce that the swimmer of the month for July is Tom Cole. It has just been announced that Tom has been appointed team captain of the Great Britain team due to fly out to Portugal in November for the World Downs Championships.

Tom is one of the youngest members of the 28 strong team and the only GB swimmer competing in the gruelling 400 IM. His mother Barbara accredits this to the training opportunities granted to him by West Suffolk and the dedication of his volunteer coach Pat Jason.

British Swimming Medication Declaration Form

Anyone that is representing Great Britain or their Home Country internationally or competing in a British Swimming ASA, SASA or WASA National event (all disciplines, excluding masters) and taking medication whether prescribed by a Doctor or purchased from a pharmacy or other retail outlet is required to declare these details to British Swimming by completing a Medication Declaration Form. This form (together with guidance notes) is available from the Membership secretary and must be completed annually or whenever you or your Doctor changes your medication.
If you believe that you may need to complete a declaration contact the membership secretary using the link below.

LTAD
Long Term Athlete Development

There are two documents available which will help swimmers and parents to understand the principles on which swimming training is founded. They describe the structure that British Swimming and hence WSSC uses to plan the development pathway of a swimmer from basic skills through to high level competition.
Swimmers of all levels and parents will find it interesting reading.

Shorter Guide to LTAD

British Swimming and West Suffolk Swimming Club take a serious stance on the misuse of drugs in sport. The WSSC Anti Doping Policy can be found in the club documents section of the website. As part of our education of swimmers we provide the following downloads

Log Book       (word document 450k)                 The club training Log Book is designed so that swimmers from any squad can use it, taking just the pages that your coach advises you to use. Download it to your home computer and then you can print off extra copies of sheets as you need them.
